The Adventures of Tintin

The Adventures of Tintin was released in New Zealand theaters on Boxing Day – 3 days ago. As a child, I loved reading the Tintin comic series, because of the art work, and the adventurous story-line in the series. Although I enjoyed the film, I’m not a movie critic. But one thing I can say is that the 3-year project paid off in the end with the attention to detail and the incredible visual effects.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Middle Earth fans have been waiting for a glimpse into Peter Jackson’s film adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkiens 1937 book, The Hobbit.

Since filming started back in March, fans have been eager to get a taste of what’s to come – and the response so far has been positive. The two-part prequel to the well received The Lord of The Rings trilogy have also been filmed and edited in New Zealand, putting our country on the map once again.

I myself haven’t had the chance to read The Hobbit just yet, but I plan to get myself up to date asap! If you haven’t either, click here to get yourself a copy of the book! I was really impressed with the LOTR series, so my expectations for this series will be just as high. I trust that Peter Jackson will bring that same quality to this series – something that has made him one of the best directors in the game today!

Charles Dickens

ziwi ziwi.co.nz tubby usedbooks.co.nz

This morning as soon as I got into the office I thought I’d check out the latest book reviews on The New York Times website. I came across an article about legendary English novelist Charles Dickens. As his 200th birthday approaches, the author of this article pays homage to the greatest novelist of the Victorian period. Have a read below. After reading the article I began ‘googling’ more information about the man who wrote many of the stories that I read as a child.

 Getting to Know Charles Dickens

A couple of years ago, I played Charles Dickens in an episode of the British sci-fi series “Doctor Who.” As the doctor takes his leave of Earth, Dickens asks whether his books will still be read in the future. Yes, the doctor replies. For how long, Dickens wants to know. Forever, says the doctor, disappearing into cyberspace.
